Wedding Checklist
If the idea of marriage doesn´t scare you and you are determined to have a wedding in the next few months you will probably need a wedding checklist.
Budget
This is probably the most unpleasant part but it has to be done. You will need to sit down with your partner and discuss finances and how much you both can collectively spend on your wedding. Parents usually help out with the financial part but you still need to check your personal finances.
When you have figured out what amount you can spend, these are the factores you need to think about in planning a wedding.
Guestlist
Venue(s)
Catering
Decorators/florists
Trousseau
Miscellaneous expenses
The guestlist
Depending on how big your wedding is going to be you have to adjust your guestlist accordingly. If there is going to be a smaller wedding with limited invatations then it´s best to consider close friends and family.
Both the bride and the groom will make a list of guest they wanna invaite and it usally happens that one side’s guest list is longer than the other’s. If there is a huge differance in numbers then you may consider in spliting catering expenses accordingly. If the difference is of just a few people just split the tab down the middle.
Venue(s)
Once you know how many guests you are going to invite you will need to start looking at booking a venue with the same capacity. It´s importent not to book a huge place if you are planning to have fewer guests. A scattered crowd is no fun. On the other hand, it´s also importent not to try to squeeze a large crowd like a can of sardines into a smaller ground.
Don´t book the first venue you see, make thorough inquiries before you finalise your booking.
Catering
When choosing a menu for your special event it´s important to know how much you’re willing to pay per guest (be sure to figure out your veg to non-veg ratio).
When booking a catering you can choose between a buffet and a sit-down dinner, which cuisine(s) you want served and what will be on the menu.
Regarding the alcohol, the most economical option is to bring your own bottles and have them served up.
Decorators/florists
If your venue needs to be decorated, make sure you set a budget beforehand and ask your florist to work around it. Don’t go overboard because it can be very expensive. Many married people will tell you that the biggest waste was spending so much on flowers.
Just have enough to keep things looking festive and no more.
Trousseau
The budget for your trousseau should be created keeping in mind the overall expense. While everybody wants to look special on his/ her big day, keep in mind that it’s just an indulgence. It’s also highly unlikely that you’ll wear your wedding outfit ever again.
Miscellaneous expenses
Besides the wedding, you may wanna plan for the honeymoon also. Honeymoon will come right after the wedding, and if you don´t get it paid as a gift from someone you will need to pay it yourself.
